KABUL (SW) – Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah has said the government supports the peace process, but peace is not one person's monopoly, one person's wish.

He said this speaking at a council of ministers meeting here on Monday. Abdullah said the peace process is the collective will of the Afghan people and people have the right to take a stand on it because they have sacrificed so much for their rights and freedoms.

This comes nearly seven months after President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani established ministry for peace affairs with Abdul Salam Rahimi as its minister.

Last week, the Peace Coordination Committee was also formed by the President to coordinate peace-making decisions. Rahimi is the chairman of this committee.

In his remarks, Chief Executive Abdullah added that unilateral appointments and decisions were made at the government level, which he said would not be in the interests of stability in the country. He insisted that the National Unity Government will continue to work until the final results of the presidential election are announced.
