KABUL (SW): Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive for the Government of National Unity left for Egypt this morning to join world leaders for the inaugural ceremony of the New Suez Canal.
On his two-day official visit, Abdullah would also meet Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmad Tayeb, as well as other world leaders during his stay in Cairo.
Abdullah is also scheduled to meet Afghan community and students in this North African country.
The development project for the New Suez Canal was started last year by the Egyptian President Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi. This new canal is developed parallel to the original one and cost $ 8.5 billion, according to the Egyptian officials.
This canal passes through Egypt and connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea.
