KABUL (SW): Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Unity Government (NUG) on Wednesday underlined the importance of unity among the ranks of Afghans to defeat the horrors of terrorism.
Abdullah was addressing the 3rd death anniversary of Marshal Qasim Fahim, former Vice President. He said injustice and prejudice have impeded the national unity in the country. “The country’s enemies will be emboldened if the government officials continue to fail meeting their obligations”, warned the CEO.
On his term, the former president Hamid Karzai called upon the Taliban to shun violence, and join peace process.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rahim Wardak, former defense minister, said there is a need to resolve the current predicament of the nation, otherwise the nation will be in jeopardy.
A number of other former government officials were also present on the occasion. Marshal Fahim was renowned figure who served as minister and as vice president to the former president Hamid Karzai. He passed away 3 years ago due to cardiac arrest at the age of 57.
