KABUL (SW): Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Unity Government (NUG) has highlighted the shortcomings of the government in ensuring good governance.
Chairing a session of the cabinet, Abdullah said providing security to the citizens remains the duty of security forces, but they have failed which has angered the public. The CEO also acknowledged people’s protest against the government’s failure as rightful. “The country is going through critical time, and the enemies of the people of Afghanistan are eyeing to fuel divisions on the basis of ethnicities, languages, regions and races to weaken Afghanistan and create opportunities for them for exploitation”, he said.
Abdullah further said that talks are underway with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the recent political and security incidents of the country. He strongly condemned the shooting of civilians in the protest rally, and called it ‘unforgivable act’. He vowed to bring the culprits to justice.
The CEO called the widening gap between the government and the political elites as unprecedented in 15 years. He, however, assured that efforts are underway to re-patch relations.
