GHOR (SW): The fire station for the whole Ghor province has only one firefighter vehicle and according to the residents of the area, the firefighter engine has always arrived at the incident too late, when everything is almost burned down to the ground.
Ghor civil society activists charged the fire department officials for the negligence and said that the fire department has the minimal possible resources at their disposal.
Abdul Hamid Natiqi, a member of the Ghor Provincial Council told Salam Watandar that the fire department in Ghor has the least resources to put out fires and rescue people calling it a worrying situation.
Mohammad Iqbal Nezami, spokesperson for the Ghor’s police headquarter said that the fire station in Ghor had three firefighting vehicles; however, two of the vehicles are now completely out of order and need to be repaired.
Nezami added that this issue has been repeatedly reported to the central government officials, however, no action has yet been taken.
In June last year, two local radio stations in Ghor were set on fire by unknown people, but due to the lack of firefighting vehicles, all the equipment of these two media completely burned down together with the buildings.
