MAIMANA (SW): Anonymous gunmen shot dead a 65-year mother together with her 27 year old daughter in Kariz-e-Lalmi area of Pashtunkot district in Faryab province on Sunday.
Talking to Salam Watandar, Abdul Kaqir Kadiri, the district officer in Pashtunkot has confirmed the incident. He said that both the mother and daughter were shot to death at 12 in the midnight. The investigations are underway and soon the assassins will be arrested, Kadiri added.
Qudratullah, the eldest son of the women killed told that a number of unidentified gunmen entered their home and opened fire at his mother and sister. “We have not been foe to anyone and government ought to investigate this case seriously”, he stressed.
Dr. Samir Enayath, head of the Faryab public hospital, also spoke to Salam Watandar, saying the two dead bodies were received by the hospital at 7 in the morning. Both victims are shot in their heads from close range, Dr. Enayath confirmed.
Meanwhile, officials at the local office of Independent Human Rights Commission (IHRC) in Faryab have strongly condemned this murder.
Sayed Hafiz Fitrat, the director to IHRC in Faryab expressed doubts that this might be among the rising cases of “honor killings”. He added that 16 women have been killed since the very beginning of the current year.
