A member of provincial council grabs land in Takhar

TALOQAN (SW): Latifa Saeedi, a member of Takhar’s provincial council, has grabbed half acre municipal land in Bagh Shahr area of Taloqan.

The construction work is ongoing in the grabbed land. The provincial council member has claimed that she does not have a private house, therefore, she has started to construct an apartment on government land. She has insisted not to change her mind on the construction of apartment on the municipality land unless the government gives her land.

The local residents have also complaint on grabbing land by the provincial council member and have urged the government to stop such land grabbing.

Aziz-u-Rahman Maqsoodi, mayor of Taloqan, confirmed that Latifa Saeedi has been constructing on municipal land by use of force. The mayor said that relevant authorities have been informed regarding the matter.

Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani, provincial police chief, assured that the construction site will be closed on Monday.

“Several high-rank government servants have grabbed lands in the best locations in Taloqan city so I am grabbing land too”, justified Saeedi.
