MAIMANA (SW): The Taliban rebels have overran the Bala Charagh district in Faryab province.
District governor, Abdul Jameel, informed due to lack of enough regular force, the local armed militia was guarding the administration compound, which fell to the Taliban. He added the Taliban killed up to 43 members of the local uprising force in Kolyan area, which weakened the security in Bala Charagh leading to the fall of the district.
Sibghatullah Sailab, member of the provincial council, has confirmed these reports. He informed the Taliban overran the district last night.
The provincial police headquarters did not respond to repeated calls for comments.
