KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health has said that out of 1,301 samples taken from people suspected of having the coronavirus, the test results of 658 people have been positively detected in the past 24 hours.
Saeeduddin Jami, head of the ministry's public relations department, said today (Thursday, June 18) that the number of positive cases of the virus has reached to 27,532 people across the country.
According to him, with the death of 42 patients with coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 546.
With 1,502 more patients recovering, the number of recovered patients reached to 7,660. Jami said that of the 658 new positive cases, 415 were in Kabul, 62 in Bamyan, 40 in Takhar, 27 in Kandahar, 22 in Kunduz, 21 in Logar and 17 in Baghlan. The virus has infected 14 people in Panjshir, 10 people in Daikundi, 7 people in Parwan, 6 people in Balkh, 6 people in Zabul, 5 people in Ghor, 4 people in Faryab and 2 people in Parwan.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, a spokesman for the Herat Health Department, said that 10 patients with corona had died in the past 24 hours. However, for the past six days, no samples have been taken from suspected people infected with the coronavirus virus in Herat.
Residents of Herat have criticized the lack of testing equipment, saying that over the past six days, dozens of people suspected of having corona have died in the province.
So far, more than 8,400,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus. More than 451,000 people have died and more than 4,414,000 have been confirmed.
