KABUL (SW) – In the past 24 hours, at least 545 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in 18 provinces, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed on Sunday.
With this new figure, the number of people living with COVID-19 across the country has risen to 15,750. In the past 24 hours, 1,816 suspected coronavirus samples have been tested in the ministry's laboratories, according to health ministry officials.
Based on the new results, at least 66 people got infected in Kabul, 117 in Herat, 92 in Paktia, 50 in Nangarhar, 48 in Samangan, 36 in Farah, 22 in Sar-e-Pul and 20 in Bamyan provinces.
Similarly, the results of 17 tests in Logar, 14 each in Ghor, Badakhshan and Panjshir, 12 in Maid Wardak, 12 in Faryab, 4 in Balkh, 3 in Kunar and 2 each in Laghman and Badghis were also confirmed to have the virus.
Officials at the MoPH said that eight patients with the virus died in the past 24 hours and another 100 patients had recovered.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, 1,428 patients have recovered so far and 265 have died.
So far, more than 6,263,000 people in the world have been infected with the coronavirus, of which more than 373,000 have died and more than 2,846,000 have recovered.
