Abdullah warns no one can stop people from agitating

27/11/2019

KABUL (SW) – The Stability and Partnership team leader, Abdullah Abdullah and his close aide, Abdul Rasheed Dostum, on Wednesday warned of mass protest rallies against void election results.

In a social media post, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah warned that if the Independent Election Commission failed to comply with the rules and regulations, no one would be able to stop the masses from coming to the streets. Abdullah added his team would not accept the outcome in such a case.

The Stability and Partnership team has already boycotted the recount drive by the IEC and has blamed the commission for being supporting the rival State Builder camp. He said the history of troubled 2014 presidential polls would not be allowed to repeat.

Meanwhile, the IEC spokesman, Zabeh Sadat, has clarified that the Commission has its strategy and policies clearly defined, and it is these rules defining the course of actions, not any electoral team. The IEC has demanded the security forces to help with recount in seven northern provinces where members of the Stability and Partnership team are hindering the process.
