KABUL (SW) – Presidential candidate Rehmatullah Nabil on Friday said he would welcome delay in polls for a genuine peace in the country.
Addressing an election rally in Maidan Wardak, he said a secret deal behind closed doors would not prove good for Afghanistan.
He urged the Taliban to engage in direct talks with the government for peace. Nabil added that a peace deal with prominent role for Pakistan would prove dangerous for Afghanistan.
This comes as the Independent Election Commission on Friday began dispatching sensitive election material from capital Kabul to provinces.
Based on the IEC schedule, the elections are set to take place on Sep. 28 later this year.
