MAIMANA (SW) – At least 13 members of the Afghan National Army in Faryab got killed in a Taliban assault on Bal Charagh district, local sources said on Friday.
According to Sibghatullah Sailab, deputy chairman for the provincial council, the Taliban stormed the Kolyan area of the district last night. He confirmed 13 soldiers got killed and 15 more got wounded in this attack.
However, a well-placed security source told SW that the death toll is higher, 15. The source said these members of the ANA were recently deployed to the area.
The Taliban have not commented on this so far.
