KABUL (SW) – There was no mention of the press freedom in the resolution adopted after an intra-Afghan dialogue for peace in Qatar on Tuesday.
In conversation with the Salam Watandar, Naveed Mohammadi, of the NAI – Supporting Media Organization, said it is worrying to see that press freedom was not mentioned in the resolution adopted at the end of the dialogue in Doha. He stressed the peace delegates should have acknowledged press freedom as virtue, and should be granted importance in future talks.
The NAI representative said media organizations have paid unforgettable sacrifices to ensure press freedom that should not be undermined.
Separately, Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the President, also told a press conference in Kabul that the press freedom is indeed missing from the resolution adopted at the intra-Afghan dialogue.
This moot in Qatar was co-hosted by Germany that saw at least 70 representatives from Afghanistan meet some 17 Taliban representatives for two days in Doha.
