SHEBERGHAN (SW) – The pro-Daesh militants are busy regrouping and recruiting fighters in Jawzjan’s Qosh Tapa and Darzab districts.

A security source told Salam Watandar a six-member group of the insurgents has settled in different parts of these two districts to revive the insurgency.

Hafeezullah Nudrat, member of the provincial council, has acknowledged that the pro-Daesh militants are regrouping to stage a comeback. He said these activities have spread fears among the residents.

However, provincial governor Lutfullah Azizi has rejected these reports. He said no credible reports have been received in this regard.

When contacted, Zubair Arif, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, told SW the security forces would crush vehemently all terrorist groups posing threat to stability.

In a separate statement, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahed has claimed the pro-Daesh militants have been completely flushed out from northern parts of Afghanistan.

Last year, some two thousand pro-Daesh insurgents led by Mawlavi Habibur Rehman and Mufti Naimatullah surrendered to the security forces after facing defeat against Taliban in Jawzjan.
