‘Taliban selling state land in Sancharak’

SAR-E-PUL (SW) – The governor of Sancharak district in Sar-e-Pul province has claimed the Taliban are busy in encroaching and selling state land here.

Naqibullah Daqiq has said the insurgents are busy in compelling the locals in Tabar and Taghay Khwaja areas to buy patches of state land. He added a local Taliban commander, Mullah Noor Ahmad, is selling a patches of 400sqm land for AFN 50,000 each.

Deputy Chairman for the provincial council, Syed Assadullah Danish, has acknowledged the growing security concerns in Sancharak district. He said the Taliban are doing all they can owing to dearth of state control in Sancharak.

Danish said the Taliban are in control of some 70 per cent territory in Sancharak. He stressed additional troops should be sent to ensure peace and order here.

Zabihullah Amani, spokesman for the provincial governor, has said the rebels have also encroached upon private agriculture land. He said the Taliban did the same in Mirza Olang district of the province. Amani said the government has assured to soon send additional troops to suppress the insurgents in Sancharak.

The Taliban have not commented on these allegations of land-grabbing.
