BADAKHSHAN (SW): The security officials in the Raestan district of Badakhshan said that the gold mine in Bikadar area of this province was seized by the Taliban after two days of conflict.
Mohammad Ishaq, Police Chief of Raestan told Salam Watandar that in addition to this Gold Mine, the villages of Kolil and Bikadar have also been captured by Taliban.
According to Ishaq, the Taliban immediately began to exploit the gold mine with 40 excavator machines after capturing the area.
Police Chief of Raestan said that they (the government) have not responded to their request to deploy more troops to the district, and if this situation continues, the entire district will be under the control of Taliban.
The gold mine situated in Bikadar village of Raestan district is one of the most important gold mines that according to local officials of Badakhshan, and preliminary surveys, there are more than 30 tons of gold in it.
