KABUL (SW): Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Unity Government (NUG), on Monday clarified Afghanistan does not support participation of its citizens in wars outside the country.
He added latest remarks by his deputy does not reflect the official policy. This comes after his deputy Mohammad Mohaqiq caused an uproar in Afghanistan as he praised ‘fighters of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other parts of the world who attended the wars in Syria’.
The deputy CEO has also been grilled by the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) members. Munawar Shah Bahaduri and Hayder Jan Naeem, two such members of the house, said Afghans are engulfed in an imposed war, and it is unacceptable to invite further troubles. They urged upon the government to take actions against the remarks made by Mohaqiq.
Last month, the Human Rights Watch categorically charged Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) over recruiting Afghan immigrant children living in Iran to fight in Syria for the regime forces.
