KABUL (SW): Mohammad Karim Khalili, Chairman of the High Peace Council (HPC) has said local, regional and international conditions are suitable for peace in Afghanistan.
He said this addressing a gathering in connection with the International Day of Peace on Thursday. He stressed joining the peace process shall not mean defeat for anyone. Khalili added that no party to the conflict can emerge victorious from the current conflict.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Unity Government (NUG) Abdullah Abdullah said mindsets need to change at local, regional and international levels for ensuring peace in Afghanistan. He said neighboring countries need to realize that the use of proxy terrorist groups for strategic gains would also undermine security on their own soil.
Speakers at the moot stressed efforts for peace should not be left for the HPC alone, and each and every citizen should strive for it in his and her own capacity.
