50,000 people get displaced due to violence in eight districts

KABUL (SW): The UN in Afghanistan stated in its latest report on Monday renewed violence in five district of Afghanistan alone forced more than 50,000 people to flee homes in a month’s time.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated in its fresh report that more than 21,000 people fled their homes in Faryab’s Ghormach district, up to 14,000 civilians left homes in Badghes’s Bala Murghab district while more than 7000 people were forced to flee from Paktia’s Jai Khail district.

The report added that up to 5300 people got displaced due to clashes in Ghor’s Taywara district while 3500 civilians were forced to flee from Paktika’s Gomal district.

 Abdul Raheem, interim governor for Pashtonkot district in Faryab, told Salam Watandar that up to one thousand people got displaced here as well due to the ragging violence.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has noted it has provided aid worth $179.5 million to the internally displaced persons in Afghanistan, and it would continue to cater those in need here.
