KABUL (SW): Officials at the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) have vowed to provide free of cost electricity to those clients unable to pay the bills.
Amanullah Ghalib, interim chief of the power utility, informed Salam Watandar that plans are in place to provide solar power panels to needy families on easy instalments. He added DABS has chalked out short, medium and long-term plans in a bid to resolve issues faced by the consumers.
Ghalib said issues related to electricity meters would be addressed in a three-month study as part of the 100-day plan of the DABS. He promised the meter system would be upgraded to ensure transparency. The interim chief for the power utility vowed those individuals tempering meters or not paying bills on time would be deprived of electricity. Ghalib also promised to streamline loadshedding schedule to enable clients properly manage their routine.
About power saving plans, he said the DABS would install new bulbs in public sector buildings that consume less electricity.
This comes as citizens in the capital Kabul and other parts of the country have long been criticizing the DABS for not properly managing electricity suplly.
