SHEBERGHAN (SW): The Taliban militants in northern Jawzjan province have overrun at least two security check posts, officials confirmed on Friday.
Officials informed Salam Watandar the militants have attacked the Jangal Reg village in the Mordyan district of the province. According to local officials the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) are engaged in clashes with the militants in the area.
Aq Mohammad, commander of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) in the Panj Gana district, informed that the two fallen check posts belonged to them and the Afghan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP). Without stating any death toll, the ALP commander said fighting is underway, but no fresh troops have arrived to quell the attack.
Mulla Amruddin, a member of the provincial council, has confirmed the reports about the Taliban attack. He added some members of the ANDSF have died in these clashes without stating a specific death toll.
Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahed, claimed to have inflicted heavy losses upon the ANDSF in this attack.
