HERAT CITY (SW): The attack on the Jawadia mosque in Bakar Abad area of Herat province by the Daesh suicide bombers killed 32 persons and injured 66 more on Tuesday evening.
Those who are injured in the attack said that the main reason behind the attack is the lack of attention by the government, especially negligence of the security forces. Accordingly, they said that the attackers entered the mosque easily, shooting at the worshipers. “The government has the capacity to collect taxes from the people, but cannot provide security”, inquired the survivors of the attack.
Some of the survivors of the Jawadia mosque attack also claimed that the security forces who are stationed in an outpost near the mosque reached the site of the attack late.
Abdul Ahad Walizada, the provincial police spokesman, rejected the allegations of negligence by the security forces and said that lack of personnel in the structure of security forces has hampered providing security all over the province.
This is not the first time that worshipers are targeted by insurgents. In January a mosque in Silk Road area of Herat was attacked by insurgents claiming 6 lives. To read more on this story, click here.
