KABUL (SW): A delegation of members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) are set to officially visit Pakistan soon.
Nazir Ahmadzia, deputy speaker of the house, told Salam Watandar that a 16 member delegation of the house led by Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, the speaker of the house, will travel to Islamabad in August. According to the deputy speaker of the house, the delegation will hold talks with top military and political figures of Pakistan on improving relations between Kabul and Islamabad.
“The Wolesi Jirga delegation will urge the Pakistani authorities not to meddle in the internal affairs of Afghanistan in this visit. The delegation will also submit documents proving their claim to the Pakistani authorities”, added Ahmadzai.
Analysts believe that the visits by the countries’ authorities will improve strained relations between Kabul and Islamabad.
Hassan Haqyar, an analyst, said although both countries are blamed for intruding in each other’s affairs, such visits will be beneficial to the strained relationship between the countries.
Almost 2 months ago a delegation from Pakistan’s parliament visited Afghanistan and some WJ members claim that the Afghan parliamentarians submitted documents proving intrusion of Pakistan in Afghanistan’s affairs. The Pakistani authorities have requested Afghanistan to send a delegation to continue talks for the improvement of Kabul-Islamabad relationship.
