ASTANA-KABUL (SW): Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani departed Kabul on Wednesday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit on June 8 and 9 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Shah Hussein Murtazawi, the spokesman for Presidential Palace, told Salam Watandar that the president is expected to address the summit aimed at stabilization of borders since its inception on the joint efforts of regional countries to fight terrorism. “Afghanistan is expecting to indulge member countries' increased efforts against terrorism”, added Murtazawi.
Based on the information given by the spokesman, President Ghani will meet with the leaders of the member countries at the margin of the summit.
Currently, Afghanistan, Iran, Mongolia, and Belarus are observer members of the organization.
