KABUL (SW): The Jamiat-e-Islami party has demanded the abdication of security bosses for their alleged failure in ensuring security in the capital, particularly in regard to the bombing at the funeral on Saturday.
Salahuddin Rabbani, the foreign minister and lead of the party, addressing the party convention here in Kabul on Monday said the recent attacks in Kabul are ‘unacceptable’. He demanded the government should bring immediate changes in the leadership of the country’s security sector. “The abdication of Hanif Atmar, the National Security Advisor and ministers of interior affairs, and defense should, and transparent investigation into the recent events should be ensured, and bringing the culprits to justice are our demands”, added Rabbani.
The leader of the party also claimed that some officials in the security sector have ties with the insurgent, but he did not name anyone.
Shah Hussein Murtazawi, the spokesman for the presidential palace, said that those who have committed negligence in providing security will be prosecuted, but did not comment regarding the NSA abdication. “The ministers in the security sector should be given a chance to proof themselves”, justified Murtazawi.
The JI party warned that if their demands are not met, a coalition with other parties will be considered to bring the necessary changes to the security in the country.
