KABUL (SW): Some members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) have called for the early publication of voters list by the Independent Election Commission (IEC).
The WJ members suggested to the IEC to publish the voters list on the commission’s website and use modern electronic equipment to avoid any fraud in the upcoming parliamentary and council elections.
Asadullah Sadati, member of the house, addressing the Monday’s session of the house said the voters list should be prepared three months in advance of the elections to assure transparency and fairness.
Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, speaker of the house, also required the IEC to hold transparent elections.
Gula Jan Abdul Badi Sayad, spokesman for the election commission, told Salam Watandar that the voters list will be approved and published by the members of the Independent Election Commission soon.
