PULI-I-ALAM/ PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Protesters have blocked main highway connecting Logar province with the capital Kabul against rampant land-grabbing in the province.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets on Wednesday in the Mohammad Agha district in Logar province. Calling for prosecution of the culprits, they demanded the government to take immediate steps towards countering the land-grabbing spree here. The protesters threatened to keep the highway connecting Logar with Kabul closed until action against land-mafia is not taken.
Separately, groups of the Taliban have attacked a number of security check posts on the Baghlan-Balkh highway leading to the closure of this key route. The security check posts have been attacked in the Chashma-e-Sher area.
Zabehullah Shujah, spokesman for the provincial police headquarters, has said the attacks have been rebuffed. Shujah also rejected reports about killing of security officials in Taliban’s attack.
