RIYADH-KABUL (SW): Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met U.S. President Donald Trump at the Arab Islamic American Summit on Sunday in Riyadh.
The Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) issued a statement here on Monday. The statement noted that President Ghani met his U.S. counterpart in Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and they discussed situation in Afghanistan, the region and the world mainly focusing on fighting terrorism.
The statement further noted that President Trump acknowledged the efforts of the Afghan government in combating terrorism and implementation of reforms in the country.
Shah Hussein Murtazawi, the president's spokesman, told Salam Watandar that the U.S. President praised the efficiency of the Afghan government in combating insurgency, terrorism and the Taliban. He said Trump showed confidence in the Afghan security forces. “President Ghani also met other world leaders at the sidelines of the Summit”, added Murtazawi.
The Arab Islamic American Summit against terrorism was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Saturday and Sunday.
