BAMYAN CITY (SW): The seventh round of Bamyan International Ski tournament was held in the snow-capped mountains of this province on Friday.
As per the information, up to 80 local and foreign players took part in tournament that took place on snow-covered Baba Mountains. The 1000-meter competition was won by the local boy Mujtaba Husaini.
England, France, Australia, Switzerland and the U.S. were among the foreign countries represented in this rare international sports venture in Afghanistan. Victorious Husaini said he trained for two years to polish his skills for this tournament. The visitors hailed the scenic beauty of Baba Mountains in Bamyan, and pronounced it suitable for ski.
Christophe, one of the foreign players, hailed the organizers for putting up an impressive show that would encourage the youth towards ski. Some two weeks ago, Afghanistan secured 73rd rank in an international ski competition in which 124 countries took part.
