KABUL (SW): The Transparent Election Foundation of Afghanistan (TEFA) has claimed it has documents which show the government has interfered in the affairs of the electoral commissions.
Mohammad Naim Ayubzada, head of TEFA, told a press conference here on Sunday people are tired of the government’s interferences in the affairs of the electoral commissions, and people want the government to act transparently. “We have sufficient documents which proves the government’s inference in election process, we will leak the documents if such interference continues”, warned Ayubzada.
According to TEFA upcoming elections is a hope for the Afghans, but government inference will shut that hope.
Meanwhile, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) has rejected reports about interference in its affairs.
Najibullah Ahmadzai, Chairman for the IEC, told Salam Watandar the electoral commission is an independent entity, and it does not allow any interference. “We have started initial preparations for the upcoming elections, there are institution to observe the fairness of the elections”, informed Ahmadzai.
