District police chief dismissed over ‘bacha bazi’

KUNDUZ CITY (SW): A district police chief in northern Kunduz province has been dismissed over charges of ‘bacha bazi’.

The term ‘bacha bazi’ is used for a wide variety of activities involving sexual relations between older men and younger adolescent men, or boys, which sometimes include child sexual abuse or pederasty. Shah Mirza, police chief of the Dasht-e-Archi district was seen in a video attending a private ‘bacha bazi’ party.

Abdul Hameed Hamidi, the provincial police chief, told Salam Watandar Shah Mirza has been dismissed and called by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for clarification in this regard. Hamidi added no one has been tasked to replace the Dasht-e-Archi police chief yet.

In this video widely shared on the social media, Shah Mirza can be clearly seen while the performers singing songs with his name incorporated in them.
