KUNDUZ (SW): Authorities at the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations (MoRR) have claimed ‘ghost’ Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are hindering the humanitarian operations in Kunduz.

Abdul Salam Hashimi, head of provincial directorate of refugees and repatriations, said after the clean-up operation of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in the capital of the province, more than 500 families had registered as IDPs, however, only 142 families have been approved as genuine IDPs. “Resident families seek humanitarian aid posing as IDPs”, added Hashimi.

Mohammad Arif Mobasher, head of provincial appeal court, warned that the ghost IDPs will be persecuted for their false claims.

According to statistics, some 800 families have been displaced due to the recent unrest in the province. This also includes the ‘ghost IDPs’.
