TALUQAN (SW): Police in Takhar province have rescued a 15 year old girl who has been used as sex slave by several local commanders and warlords in the area.
The victim has provided a list of the men to the police. Noor Mohammad Hakimi, the provincial police chief, told Salam Watandar that the identity of the minor is not clear yet, but she claims to hail from Kunduz province. He said the minor was cross-dressed as a boy in order to transport her easily for sexual abuse. “Apparently, she does not know if her parents are alive or not, and she said she was engaging in these sexual activities with her own choice”, he added.
A well-placed source told Salam Watandar on the conditions of anonymity that the minor was impregnated by the war lords, but she had abortion.
Esmat Qurbani, provincial council member, told a gathering today that the policemen are also involved in sexual assaults on the minor. Karim Danish, a university lecturer and civil society activist, said that the local authorities are trying to marry-off the minor so that the culprits escape justice.
Currently, the minor is kept at a shelter home in the province where police does not allow the journalists to talk to her. The civil society activists in the province have urged the government to swiftly refer the matter to the court.
