KABUL (SW): A number of artists in the capital Kabul on Saturday deplored the demise of Afghan cinema.
Lateef Ahmadi, seasoned film director told journalists that no attention has been paid to preserve and promote cinema in the country. He charged the Ministry of Information and Culture for neglecting this key subject that could serve as a source of entertainment as well as education.
Ahmadi warned that if the government kept neglecting this the artists would take on to the streets. He noted that lack of investment and support has also contributed to the fact that film production is literally zero. Lack of attention towards cinema has also led to the demolition of a number of cinemas and conversion of them into markets.
