KABUL (SW): Opportunities for investment worth $ 12.5 million dollar in the agriculture sector have been created across the country, officials said on Tuesday.
This was noted at the CARD-F investors Engagement Conference here attended by government officials and members of the international community. Assadullah Zamir, Minister for Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) told the moot that these opportunities have been created in collaboration with the private sector and aid agencies. Zamir said that 58 percent of this has been contributed by the private sector while remaining 42 percent by the MAIL and CARD-F project.
The Minister mentioned these opportunities for investment are created in Helmand’s cotton producing industry, yarn weaving factory in Balkh, 21 poultry farms and some other projects. Zamir mentioned that as many as 55 new private firms in the agriculture sector have registered themselves at the MAIL in the past three years. He praised the CARD-F project for enabling a number of key agriculture projects in 14 provinces.
