MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW): Around 11 pm last night, a deadly explosion took place in Mazar-e-Sharif. The fatal attack targeted the German consulate in the city. Eye witnesses told Salam Watandar that suicide bombers rammed two trucks loaded with explosives into the German consulate, killing at least 6 civilians and wounding 33.
Rzaq Qadiri, the security chief for Balkh police asserted that the insurgents have managed attacks on Germen consulate, he however made gave details on the event.
In the meantime the Taliban has written on its web page, saying that they have carried out the attack in retaliation for the air strikes carried out by the US forces, last week in the northern province of Kunduz.
