29/10/2016

KABUL (SW): Zahir Qadeer, the deputy speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Saturday warned that the activities and influence of the Daesh is on the rise.

In his remarks during the session on Saturday, Qadeer warned that the government is under-estimating this militant group while the activities and influence of it are on the rise across the country. He went on to say that if the militants managed to take the Tora Bora Mountains under their control, they would announce the establishment of ‘Caliphate of Khorasan’ in the region.

He claimed that un-identified helicopters are dropping supplies to the pro-Daesh rebels in areas under their control. Qadeer stressed that the rebels have now aimed at the strategic area of Pacheragram in a bid to reach to the Tora Bora Mountains.

Meanwhile, Firdos Kawish, an analyst, told Salam Watandar that pro-Daesh rebels in Afghanistan are not strong enough to declare caliphate. He claimed that those individuals who re over-projecting the threat of Daesh are aiming to gain personal interests. Kawish claimed that the pro-Daesh rebels are witnessing an eminent defeat and the real threat to the Afghan government comes from the Taliban.
