KABUL (SW): Analysts believe Deash is seeking to win the Pakistani Taliban’s allegiance and establish its so called ‘Islamic State of Khorasan’ in Afghanistan.
Pakistani journalist Rahimullah Yusufzai has told Salam Watandar that Deash has sent a letter to the Pakistani Taliban leaders, asking them to support the group in establishing Islamic State of Khorasan in Afghanistan. Yusufzai added that Daesh militants are present both in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He said that most of its members come from the local areas, and a small number of foreigners are seen among them as well.
Jawid Ghafor, commentator on political affairs, believes that there is no empty room for Deash’s ideology in Afghanistan. He noted that Daesh is backed by the foreign intelligence agencies. Ghafor noticed that some foreign countries, particularly the Pakistani government, have active role in establishing Daesh in Afghanistan.
Yonus Fakur, analyst on political affairs, is of the opinion that intelligence agencies of the regional countries, notably of Pakistan, are trying to establish the ‘Islamic State of Khorasan’ in Afghanistan. There is no doubt that proxy war is going on in Afghanistan and the regional countries are trying to gain their interests here, he added.
In the meantime, Mohammad Radmanish, the deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), has stated that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) are able to thwart any move by insurgent including the Taliban and Deash.
Reports suggest that for the time being, Deash militants are present in Achin and Pachir Gam districts of Nangarhar province.
