KABUL (SW): A number of Kabul residents on Monday vowed to support the government in its anti-encroachment drive.
Addressing a presser here, a number of representatives from various districts charged that a number of government officials are also responsible for encroaching land. Kafeel Nazar, chairman of the Chahar Asia district council, said on the occasion that the land-grabbers collaborate with the government officials to encroach upon public properties.
Haji Zeyarat Gul, a representative from the Khak-e-Jabar district told the moot that from top to bottom all government officials are busy encroaching state property across the country. He noted that citizens are ready to support the government in an honest anti-encroachment drive.
Meanwhile, Dawa Khan Menapal, deputy presidential spokesman has said that President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani is working on a special strategy to legally act against the land-grabbers. He added that thousands of acres of previously encroached land have been reclaimed.
Hamid Akram, governor for the Kabul province told the gathering that some 42, 000 jeribs of state land is under illegal occupation in Kabul, and all efforts would be ensured to reclaim it.
