KABUL (SW): In line with the holy month of Ramadan, a number of religious scholars have stressed upon the need to lay down arms and let citizens offer prayers in peace.
Talking to Salam Watandar, Kamaluddin Hamid, a religious scholar noted that the holy month of Ramadan is a gift from Allah for the humankind and committing violence and terrorism in this month is against the teachings of Islam. He stressed that Islam is the religion of peace and it prohibits from all sorts of violence. “Everyone should make sure not to cause trouble, pain or suffering to anyone in this holy month”, he underlined.
In his views, giving happiness and extending helping hand to each other is the virtue of this month and on the contrary causing pain and terror are greatest sins.
Mawlawi Jalaludin Hanafi, another religious figure has called upon the Taliban to refrain from killing and harming innocent people in this holy month. “Particularly for the sake of honor and respect to this holy month, other human beings should be respected. Executing them, abusing them, hindering their movement and taking passengers down should be avoided”, he viewed. He added that anyone involved in killing of the innocent people would face the wrath of Almighty.
Separately, the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Nicholas Haysom, while presenting his best wishes for the Holy month of Ramadan, have called upon all parties to the conflict to respect this month and allow Afghan families to worship in peace. “I sincerely hope that the people of Afghanistan will be able to use this time for reflection, patience and tolerance. Observed in a spirit of peace and compassion, can help pave the way for a sustainable peace in Afghanistan.”, he said in the message.
