“Chabahar symbolizes regional affiliation”

TEHRAN (SW): Speaking at the launch of much-awaited Chabahar port in Iran, President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani said that project symbolizes deep rooted ties and affiliation between Afghanistan, Iran and India.

President Ghani stated that the Chabahar port will serve as an excellent corridor for transit trade for the three countries in the near future.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the launch of the project with his Iranian counterparts Hassan Rohani and Indian Prime Minister Nandara Modi, Ghani said that Asia would transform into a vibrant continent. He added that such development projects would stabilize the region.

Afghan President stressed that unlike some countries that promote and export terrorism, Afghanistan, Iran and India generate hope and prosparity.

Calling May 23rd as an historic day for three countries,  Rohani said that economic cooperation would bring prosperity and peaceto the region. Rohani emphasized that Chabahar port, despite being an economic agreement, is a political pact also.

Nadara Modi also named May 23rd as “the end of regional separation day”. Modi added that Chabahar treaty opens a new chapter in cooperative between the three counties.
