PUL-I-ALAM (SW): Latest flash floods have caused havoc in eastern Logar province by damaging crops and demolishing hundreds of homes.
According to the locals, heavy downpour has left many areas in the provincial capital and nearby districts engulfed in water. Crops on thousands of acres of land have also been damaged.
Saleem Saleh, spokesman for the provincial governor, said in this regard that a commission has been formed under the leadership of the deputy governor Qamarudin Shakib to address the urgent situation faced by the locals. The spokesman added that flash floods have particularly damaged the provincial capital, Baraki Barak, Khokhi and Mohammad Agha districts.
As per the knowledge of the local Disaster Management Authority, no casualty has been caused by the floods. Najibullah, interim head of the DMA, said that officials are busy assessing the total financial loss inflicted by the floods.
Similar reports about floods have emerged from central Maidan Wardak province.
