PUL-I-KHOMRI CITY (SW): Officials at the Displaced Families Department in northern province Baghlan said that due to the recent fighting in Dahan-e-Ghori district and Dand-e-Ghori, nearly 1500 families have been displaced.
Najibullah, one of the officials at the department, said that the displaced families now live under the shelters near Farhat Tapa area in Pul-e-Khomri City.
He added that they have sent the lists of these displaced families to the aid institutions but they have not received any assistance so far.
A number of these families told Salam Watandar that most of the displaced families are farmers whose lands have been damaged during the fighting.
They urged upon the government to ensure security in their related areas.
The fighting between security forces and the militants have been flaring up in Dand-e-Ghori area and parts of Dahan-e-Ghori district for 10 days now.
According to a number of members at Baghlan Provincial Council, Taliban have captured large swath of Dahan-e-Ghori district.
Security officials in Baghlan, however, said that military operation was underway in a bid to recapture the areas.
They expressed hopes that they would soon pave the way for the return of the displaced families.
