LASHKARGAH (SW): Civil society in southern Helmand province has blamed the higher security officials for denying the local youth of its due credit.
Sardar Mohammad Hamdard, head of Helmand Civil Society (HCS) told a gathering here on Monday that as many as 150 young men have registered their complaints at the HCS.
He quoted these men saying that though they have passed the test but are not allowed to join the military academy.
Hamdard charged that the local Afghan National Army (ANA) officers have denied hundreds of local youth the right to join the ANA Academy despite impressive results at the entry test.
Agha Mohammad Qureshi, another leader of the HCS, said in this regard that the officials have preferred candidates from other areas
over Helmand. He went on to say that deploying cadets from other areas of the country to perform duties in Helmand has led to the growing insecurity in Helmand.
The HCS has vowed to extend the scale of protest if the matter is not resolved.
