23/01/2016

KABUL (SW): A number of citizens in Kabul have complained that a water supplying company called Khaleqyar Paiwandi, has collected afn 15,000 from each family in 15th zone in Kabul promising to provide them with drinkable water but the citizens have been made to wait for months to no avail.

Mohammad  Hussain, a resident in 15th zone told Salam Watandar that based on a contract signed between residents and the company, the company is obliged to provided them with drinkable water for 10 years but it has been almost a year that the private company ceased to supply water to the residents.

The residents said that the private company has asked every family to pay afn 3500 in order for the water to be supplied to them again.

According to the residents, due to lack of drinking water, children and women go to remote areas for getting water. They said that they have gone to the private company several times to solve their problems but each time the company has made empty promises.

Nowrooz, Head of the company, said that the reason behind why they no longer provide citizens with drinkable water is that the level of water has lowered, which has led to the trouble.

He said that in the next 6 months they would install new pipelines so that the water supply smoothly resume again.

He added that the local residents are indebted afn 10 million to the company and once they have paid their debts, they would provide with water again.
