KABUL (SW): Afghanistan Turkish Civil Society Institutions (ATCSI) commemorated the first anniversary of SalamWatandar’s Uzbeki language broadcasting yesterday (Friday).
The participants of the event said that Uzbeki is one of Afghanistan’s national languages but unfortunately the government has not paid any attention to it over the past 14 years.
Hamidullah Tadash, a university lecturer and a representative of ATCSI, while criticizing Afghanistan National Radio and Television for lack of any programs in Uzbeki said that the national TV is funded by government and that it should pay attention to national languages in the country.
Sardar Mohammad Rahman Oghlo, former MP and a political analyst, said that it would be difficult to make a national without its citizens embrace each other’s cultures.
He criticized Ministry of Information and Culture for its lack of attention to national languages spoken across the country and added that it will deepen the gap between people and the government.
Kawa Ahengar, Deputy for Internews Media Organization, likened the languages of the country to a painting and saying that wiping out a language from the country is like the paining is missing an artistic piece.
SalamWatandar launched its Uzbeki radio broadcasting back in December 2014.
SalamWatandar’s online broadcasting in Uzbeki started in Feb, 2015.
SalamWatandar’s website has been active in four languages as Persian, Pashto, Uzbeki and English for a
year now.
