FEROZKOH CITY (SW): Roads in nearly 9 districts in the western province Ghor have been blocked along with Ghor-Kabul highway due to heavy snow.
Hamidullah Dadfar, Head of Disaster Management Authority Office in Ghor, told SalamWatandar that the only road which is currently open is the road which goes from Dawlatyar district to Feroz Koh City.
He added that the facilities they have would not respond to such a great disaster. He assured that there will be assistance from the capital Kabul to the affected districts soon.
He further said the snowfall has affected the crops and warned of possible flood and avalanche.
There is no report of the casualties yet.
Dadfar warned that if precautionary measures were not taken, catastrophe would happen soon.
He urged upon government to send assistances to the province before all the roads get blocked.
Ghulam Nasir Khadeh, Governor of Ghor, told SalamWatandar that considering the amount of disaster, only a few families would be provided with their assistances and that the assistances would not be sufficient for all the affected families.
According to him, more than 60 percent of the residents in the province live below poverty line and if natural disaster happened, it could only add to their miseries.
He asked government to take preventive measures for natural disasters.
