Why do Afghans take the risk and leave the country?

KABUL (SW): As the coalition forces’ combat mission ended in Afghanistan, many development projects also ended due to the lack of budget. Considering the drying-up of the assistances by the international community, people lost their only hope for a stable economy in the country.

This has not been the only reason for social hopelessness but fighting across the country and fall of Kunduz was a shining example of it which made many citizens believe that security in Afghanistan is in a total shambles.

After Kunduz collapsed to the militants, many citizens migrated to seek safe and secured life in Europe.

Although, the leaders of the Government of National Unity have constantly urged the citizens not to leave the country and put up with the situation but it seems the citizens have ran out of patience understanding that the country is no longer safe to live in.

Leaving the country was not as easy as it seemed. A number of the citizens drowned in the oceans and took their dream of a good future to their graves.

Now the question is that despite a great threat of losing their lives on their way to Europe, why do they still opt for leaving the country?

Political experts believed that insecurity and unemployment have been the two major reasons for thousands of Afghans who leave the country. European countries also have their security concerns and that is why they have developed new rules for the migrants which make their situation even worse.

In his recent trip to European countries as well as in his meetings in the country, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani kept promising the citizens for a better living condition and urged them not to leave the homeland.

Latif Nazari, a political expert, said that the government has continuously failed to act on its promises.

He believed that the current management structure in the country has even turned the least opportunities into a threat.

He added that the increasing insecurity and political crisis coupled with worsening economic condition, have added to the waves of migrators.

Mirza Mohammad Yarmand, a military expert, too believed that considering Pakistan’s efforts in fueling insecurity in the country Afghanistan has been suffering badly.

According to the United Nations’s report, in the first six months of the current year nearly 150000 Afghans have left the country.
