KABUL(SW):Interior Minister Noorul Haq Olumi was summoned by the Wolesi Jirga on Monday for explanation over the worsening security situation in the country. In regard to the surging insecurity, Olumi said shortcomings in regard to the air force and other resources, the security forces are faced with multiple challenges and the militants take advantage of it.
He mentioned efforts were underway to acquire support from various countries for the Air Force and heavy arms. He regretted that lack of resources have resulted in grim situations when dead bodies of the policemen are lying on the battlefields for days.
He added that he receives calls for more arms and ammunitions from all 34 provinces but the absence of it leaves him idle. He assured the house that no discrimination has been done in regard to appointments in the forces. Without explaining the reason, he said some 40 higher ranking posts have been awarded to former Jihadi figures.
The Minister vowed that the Afghan forces have the abilities to defend the motherland.
He blamed Pakistan for training Daesh rebels and sending them to fight in Afghanistan. At the end of the session, Olumi won the vote of confidence with a majority from the 151 present members voting in his favor.
According to the Article Ninety two of the Constitution, the house, on the proposal of twenty percent of all its members, shall make inquiries from each Minister. If the explanations given are not satisfactory, the House of People shall consider the issue of a no- confidence vote.
The no- confidence vote on a Minister shall be explicit, direct, as well as based on convincing reasons. The vote shall be approved by the majority of all members of the House of People.
